NLP Miniclass Day 5: Making busy days fun and interesting!

We’ve all been there: it’s a Tuesday morning, the inbox is overflowing, and the week ahead feels like a long, exhausting climb. Even powerful tools like Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) can start to feel like “work” when we focus too much on constant self-analysis.

In her latest miniclass, NLP expert Nandini A. Iyengar shares how to break the cycle of boredom and stress by making your professional life more playful. Here are three practical ways to reframe your busy days.

1. Turn the “Rat Race” into a Game

The biggest hurdle to a productive day is often our own negative belief that work must be a high-pressure “rat race.” [01:20]

Instead of viewing a 12-hour shift as a burden, gamify your goals. Set clear objectives for the day and treat your tasks like levels in a game that you are fully equipped to win. Before you even head to the office, tell your brain: “I am completely energized and geared up for this.” [02:04] By exaggerating this feeling of enthusiasm, you prime your mind for success rather than exhaustion.

2. Direct Your Own “Hero Movie”

Stop identifying with your flaws and start seeing yourself as the protagonist of a high-stakes movie. [03:34]

If you find it hard to stay confident, use the Character Technique:

  • Pick a Role Model: Think of someone in your office—perhaps a CEO or a mentor—who always seems energetic and happy. [02:53]
  • Adopt the Persona: Ask yourself, “If I were as confident or successful as that person, how would I feel right now?” [03:13]
  • Embody the Feeling: Manifestation is about the feeling. When you act “as if” you are already that successful, energetic person, you begin to achieve your goals much faster.

3. The 3-Minute NLP Reset

You don’t need a 30-minute meditation session to change your mindset. You can shift your entire day with these three quick “micro-actions”: [03:55]

  • One Belief Shift: Identify one negative thought (e.g., “Today is going to be too busy”) and flip it to a positive one (“I will accomplish everything I want today”). [04:01]
  • One State Shift: If you feel tired, force a physical and mental shift into a positive state. Don’t wait for the energy to come—create it. [04:20]
  • One Pattern Interrupt: If you have a recurring “pattern” of feeling anxious before a specific weekly meeting, break that pattern. [04:33] Bring a favorite cup of tea or a specific set of supportive notes to the meeting to change the “vibe” and relax your brain. [04:54]

Final Thoughts: Celebrate the Small Wins

To keep the momentum going, make a conscious effort to interact with colleagues and offer appreciation. [05:43] Most importantly, let go of yesterday’s failures. [05:54] By celebrating small wins and treating each day as a fresh start, you can turn a boring Tuesday into a rewarding experience.
